The main power is the maximum power that a
diesel generator set can develop during continuous operation at variable load for an unlimited time. The average load in a 24 hour period is 70% unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer. Overloading for 1 hour for 12 hours of operation is not specified by ISO, but is allowed. The minimum load value of the diesel generator set is 25% of the main power.
Auxiliary and standby power is the maximum that the DGU (diesel generator set) can develop when operating at variable load during a possible power outage, which the DGS reserves, with an annual operating time of no more than 500 hours. Average power over a 24 hour period is 70% unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer. Overloading is not allowed.
